Fixing Metal Roof Sheets

The screws that are used to attach the metal roofing are self drilling screws. As with all of the fixing screws provided you can use a colour cap to hide the stainless steel head. Over time this coating can wear away leaving the metal panels to oxidize. Remove roofing and turn each sheet over.

Metal roofs are made from a wide variety of materials. 1 look for loose nails. 2 look for holes rust patches or other signs of deterioration. If you find any remove rust with a wire brush and or steel wool.

Most metal roof panels are made from sheet metal that has been coated with a protective surface. Some of these materials are subject to oxidation. The general advice for fixing is 4 5 screws across the sheets purlin we advise using 1 screw on the overlap of the next sheet. If you asked two installers whether they pre drill metal roofing sheets prior to installation you would likely get two completely different answers.

Then prime the surface with a metal primer and follow up with a top coat to match the color of the roof. These include steel aluminum tin copper and zinc. This means that the screw will drill its own hole through the metal roofing panel and into the metal or wood substrate. You will have to paint the roof but is cheaper than buying new roofing.

Pull and re nail them. If fixing screws are left in the valleys your roof will leak in hundreds of places.
